How to Play

How To Play keno

We get a thrill and sense of excitement when entering to play, and we know you will too. If this is your first time playing a lottery game, or you are interested to learn more about the other lottery games, we have put this information together for you so you know how to play.

Keno results is a website for those who love to play lottery type games.

Lotto, Powerball, and Strike!

Lotto, Powerball, and Strike are the three more traditional and common lottery games in the New Zealand lottery. Each of these games have draws on both Wednesdays and Saturdays, so you can play each of them two times per week. The overall goal of these three games is to match the numbers on your ticket to the numbers picked in the draw.

Strike!

Strike! is a lottery game that can be purchased in addition to Lotto. You can add Strike to any Lotto ticket for just $1 per line.

In Strike, the goal is to match the numbers on your ticket with the first four numbers of the Lotto draw, in the exact same order. The winning numbers must be on the same line of your ticket. If this happens, then you have won the top prize – a Strike Four!

Lotto

Lotto is the most basic, traditional New Zealand lottery game. To play, you choose six numbers between 1 and 40 to make a line. In order to enter a draw, you must play at least four lines. So, you would choose six numbers between 1 and 40, at least four times.

You can choose your own numbers for each line, or you can play a Dip, where random numbers are automatically generated for you by the system.

At each draw, six winning Lotto numbers, and one additional bonus number, are drawn. However, there are seven different Lotto Prize Divisions, or tiers. In other words, even if you do not have a perfect match for all six numbers, there are still 7 other ways and chances to win a prize. A breakdown of each division and prize is shown in the table below.

Powerball

Like Strike!, Powerball is another lottery game that can be added on to Lotto.

To play Powerball, you must choose a Powerball number between 1 and 10 to each line on your ticket. If you have a winning six number Lotto line, and you also guess the correct Powerball number, the jackpot is even bigger!

The Jackpots

The Lotto First Division prize is NZD $1 million for every single draw.

If multiple players win, the prize will be shared equally.

The Powerball First Division prize is NZD $4 million and increases with each draw until someone wins. Or, if the jackpot reaches NZD $50 million, then a ‘Must Be Won’ draw will occur. If no one wins that draw, the prize will go down a tier.
Like Lotto, if there are multiple Powerball winners, the prize is shared equally.

The Strike 4 jackpot grows at every draw until it is won. Like Powerball, there is a ‘Must Be Won’ jackpot level.

Also, like Lotto and Powerball, if there is more than one winner, than the jackpot is shared equally.
